Small blocks make plenty of power and can beat big blocks. Billy is absolutely right, to be exact a motor is an air pump, basically, the smaller it is the faster you have to turn it to pump the same amount of fuel and air. that doesn't mean a small black cant do it, it just means you have to spin it more. One thing to rememeber ANYTHING you can add to a small block you can add to a big block. All things being equal the bigger motor will win.

i love big blocks too. would build one if i could afford it. i dont so much think its a rev thing because a small block ford can rev with the best of them (so making power upstairs is no sweat). i think a big block is more suited to a street car for the torque reason. when it comes to racing i count them as equals. theres not fewer problems making a bbf quick, just a whole different set of 'em. the 460 in my 79 f150 has over 500k and it stone stock and dependable. however if you drive a sb car and you beat a bb or nitrous or boosted car there is that small evil voice in the back of your mind that laughs like the crypt keeper. its so great to go to the track nowadays and see so many fords, sb and bb. making up for the decades of 85% chevy and 10% dodges at the strip all talking smack.------------------ 306, 4speed, 4.11's....best 1/8 mile 7.58 at 92mph with 1.72 60ft.
