Might be the mechanical secondaries with that auto. You might try sapping to a vacuum secondary carb and see if it helps. I'm sure someone would let you borrow one to see if it helps before purchasing one.

Ronnie,

I think the stall speed is too low. You're launching below your peak torque, bogging the engine down.

Personally, I`d lose the drag radials & get some proper SLICKS. A pair of 8 1/2"x26-15 M/T ET Drags should be plenty to run waaay into the 12`s. I ran 11.9`s with them on a nose heavy 69 Mach1 with a 428CJ.

Buy a good 8" converter and a set of 26x8.5 slicks and be happy.

Good Luck!

just because it is a 3000 stall it aint gonna hold to 3000. i got a 3700 and about 2100 is all i can get out of it. are a lot of variables that control the actual stall speed. for instance if you had a 460 engine it would stall higher. i run 1.5x-1.6x 60 ft times with a very similsr combo to yours. get you some slicks!!! good luck

If at all posible.......leave the line at a dead idle......the converter AND the carb is (the pump shot) designed to FLASH.....
Slicks would DEFINITELY help!!....GOOD LUCK and Keep the SHINY Side UP!!
