What is the overall length of a 429/460 crank spacer in a '70-'77 application? It's in a 1971 Torino.

I've got a 68-69 spacer that's too long, and need the correct length.

Thanks,

Greg

Sounds like you may have a crank snout that is the Boss 429 length. I believe some were of these were used in Thunderbird due to not enough room between the radiator and the engine. It also used a short snout water pump. FRPP list the M-6359-C460 spacer as 1.375" long. This is the spacer I used for a B9 style crank snout.

otherwise, there was no difference in spacer lengths from 68-78 that i am aware about.

Thanks for the reply, T-bird, but I have a regular truck 460 crank. Besides, crank length is not the problem, pulley alignment is.

I had a spacer I got from a complete 69 429 out of a T-bird. This system uses a damper with pulley grooves cut into it instead of a crank pulley bolted to a damper.

The crank spacer for this setup is longer so as to put the damper out farther on the crank for pulley alignment.

I am using a later style pulley and bracket arrangement off of a truck, and the spacer I had was too long.

I need the regular truck type spacer, which is very common, but I can't seem to get my hands on one.

I bought one on ebay, but it turns out to be the long style I already have.

Greg
