Someone on this board has a 86 Multiport EFI 5.0 with Aod for sale. I am thinking about buying it too put in one of my 66 coupes. It comes with everything from computer, harness and rad too the engine and trannie. He will even throw in the driveshaft if needed. Is this a upgrade over a 69 302 w/ a c4?

i would say the engine is would be better to get a 91-92 HO, and it'll have tons of emissions stuff, the efi would be nice, and i'd stick with the c4 unless it's for lots of street drivingfor all out racing - NO for street strip car - your call for street car - YES [This message has been edited by Dubz (edited 09-12-2003).]

yes most benificial if you want to run 4.11 gears or the like because the od will drop you back down to like 2.70 gears Best of all worlds.. The aod can be beefed up later to handle 750 hp will retaining the overdrive if you should ever need it..Bruce

Off the top of my head there are a few issues. Is it a HO motor or no? Regardless, that motor is a "speed density" system which really limits your modifications that you can do. You can convert it to "mass air" which will allow a ton of mods but that alone costs around 600 beans. So, find out if it has been converted and add up all the costs. You may be further ahead searching around for a motor that has been "fluffed" a bit. I believe that the HP ratings went down in '86 from the previous year. In '86 is when Ford went to fuel injection across the board with the 302's. Just something to think about. Thats my .02 Later, Gordon Almost forgot to mention, all 89-95 models use "mass air" systems. In 88, all California emissioned vehicles were "mass air" [This message has been edited by bigblocked85 (edited 09-14-2003).]
