I have a set of them. They were in my 557 when I bought the long block. I replaced them with Comp Cams lifters. The Cam Research lifters appear to be just about identical to the Herbert house brand lifters (i had some of them in a SBF). Perhaps made by the same supplier. Personally, I would stay away from the them just for the fact that they are not rebuildable. Any solid roller lifter needs to be rebuilt or replaced every so often due to the high spring pressures. The Comp Cams lifters have an axle that is held in place by snap rings. They can be rebuilt be replacing the rollers and needle bearings. Comp does that for less than 1/2 the cost of new. The Cam Research and Herbert lifters have the axles peened in place. They can't be removed to rebuild the lifter.Cam Research is same company that makes the MPG port plates that are advertised in the back of all the car mags. They do Ford only cams. It's owned by Scott Main (sp?) He knows he stuff fairly well, but can be lacking in his approach to hardware problems/ customer service (in my opinion). I have one of his roller cams in my 557. I'm happy with it, but if I ever replace it I will not buy from him. Someone else on this board had a similar dealing with him IIRC. I can can get the same grind from a number of cam companies. Please note that this is strictly my *opinion* and is not intended to slander/libel/defame him. The website: http://www.camresearchcorp.com/ Later, David Cole

Let's just say, I wouldn't buy a glass of water from him if I was about to die from dehydration. He screwed my uncle on an entire motor, and a member fo this board that posts once and awhile used to live within 4 miles of his shop in Colorado. He has told me several times that all the guys out there that know anything about motors wont deal with him either. And I had a fellow from that area tell me at the bracket finals several years ago the same exact thing. He said Scot talks a good game, but in reality, he doesn't know diddly.
