Don't know about flowmaster, but most shops can do this pretty easily. Tough getting the 3-inch pipes around the axles, but it's doable.

Dr Gas has some 3 " set ups that will take you to the muffler. They say using 3" into 2 1/2" tail pipes will help scavenge the exhaust gas and will flow better than open headers.A friend of mine tried this with his 340 Cuda and was a tenth faster with closed exhaust over open.

I'm sure that depends on each individual motor combo. I highly doubt any full length exhuast would be within a tenth of what mine runs with the hedders uncorked. I would bet that a street/strip car it would help, but something more radical it would hinder. But, that's just my guess.

I'm not a big Mopar fan either but this is a car that runs low 11's @ 117 mph (no nitrous). He runs it regularly on the street and only changes to slicks for the track. I was at the track when he dropped the exhaust and ran slower. This is an automatic car so it is very consistent.Check with Dr. Gas (a Ford man by the way). www.drgas.com. You'd be amazed at the new technology. I just put the X pipe exhaust on my Mustang and will dyno it on the 23rd. I'll post the difference from the H pipe I was using.

Relax Zeater...I've got a few buddies with mopars and chebbies and they're fun to rip on. As a matter of fact I get hammered on in return! As far as the Dr. Gas stuff, my buddy runs the spintech mufflers, Dr. Gas x-pipe, and exhaust out the back on his '67 Camaro to the tune of hi-10's on a pump gas 358 w/drag radials driven right off the street. (BTW it's one of last year's Hot Rod Magazine's top 10 cars of the year) So I know their stuff works ------------------ '68 mustang 351 clevor- 10.92@124 '67 Stang, 351W -11.18@118 '69 351C Torino-14.90@100 '78 Pickup 351W-15.56@88 '79 Pickup 460 ET=??

It took my a little while to figure it out, but I did. Here's why. quote: Originally posted by ZEATER: Dr Gas has some 3 " set ups that will take you to the muffler.
The 3" pipe to the mufflers acts as a big collector extension. When he removed it, he lost that collector extension. Most cars benefit from some collector extension. Mine does. When I take off the 18" extensions I have bolted to the collectors, the car slows down substantially. I would bet, if he took the exhuast off, and bolted 18"-24" of 3" collector extension to the hedders, it would run faster than it does with the exhuast on it. A racer I know that runs a previous record holding Dodge pickup (he runs at Cordova, I'm sure you've seen it) used to run almost 3' of collector extension. If running full length exhuast was so beneficial, all the really fast stock and super stocker would be running it. But, none are that I am aware of (and I am willing to bet Alex doesn't have it on his record holding car). I'm sure for a street car, and especially a hot street car, Dr Gas exhuast systems are superior to the generic locally installed exhuast systems.
