I was at the swap meet in Ohio Saturday and bought a 650 Double pumper. I also got 2 chrome bowls for the carburetor. (Thought they would help setoff the red on my motor) . Anyway, when I took the old bowls off the carb and went to switch the parts over to the new bowls "Problem" . The old bowls accelerator pump area had a little metal strap that seemed to be pressed into two little slots. I think the strap was to hold the check ball from coming out of it's location. On the new Chrome bowls there is no place to press the straps in, instead there are 2 extra holes, 1 on each side of the Check Ball ?? What and where do I get what I need for this? Is there a check ball in the newer bowls? If there are two to three holes & no ball they are made for the neoprene check valve, just a round red rubber looking thingy with a tit on one end of it. The tit goes in from the bottom of bowl thru one of the holes up into the fuel area of bowl, with the flat part inside the pump Diaphram cavity covering all the holes. When the pump arm is depressed, the pressure of the fuel pushes against the flat part sealing it off from the bowl, forcing fuel thru the pump orifice past the check needle, into shooters, otherwise it would just push the fuel back into bowl. Gravity pushes the fuel past the soft rubber thingy to refill pump cavity for another shot. Hope this helps, its as simple as a simple mind like mine can explain it. The bowls you bought are the newer design that uses a rubber "umbrella" seal instead of the check ball. You can get the seals from Holley. Part number is 26-41.Have fun.
