You always hear about how great the 4V heads are. But I was wondering for a low budget 1/8th bracket car could you get a Cleveland with a set of 2V heads to run mid to high 7's in a 3100 lb car.
My Dad has one in the garage that needs rebuilt. If it is possible what are some possible combinations good for mid to high 7's.

Put it on alcohol.

I had a 10.4-1 compression 2v headed (unported heads) motor in my 2800 lb car and it ran mid 6.80's in the heat of the summer. It will still need a loose convertor, and good traction.

Get a Weiand xcellorator intake, some domed pistons (even the pistons for closed chamber heads will work, thats what I used), a good solid flat tappet cam (I had good luck with a Comp Cams that was 256/266 @ .050), an 8" convertor that will flash around 5500, and put a good alchy carb on top of it. Better fill the block halfway while you are at it. If you don't, it will eventually crack a cylinder. It should be good for low 7's, if it will hook.

the 2bbl heads r deacnt but in my opinion the 4bbl heads r alot better i was only runn a 500-525 lift cam with 2bbl heads running 9.30's in the 1/8 changed nothing but the heads to 70 4bbl heads and went 8.40's on street tires and a 3.50 gear with a 3000 stall converter oh and the 2bbl heads had a mild port job and the 4bbl heads were stock just my personal facts

So which has more potential with stock heads a Cleveland with 2V heads or a 351W.
As most of you know I currently have a 351W that runs low 8.20's with a C6 behind it I am going to swap to a C4 this winter which should pick up 2 or 3 tenths. But like I said I have this Cleveland sitting in the garage, If I would build it similar to my 351W, something like Kid said 10 or 10.5-1 decent solid cam maybe a size smaller, Xcellorator with a 850dp run on gas and a good convertor. Would it out ET the 351W.

I'm thinking I've seen guys get around 230CFM out of the 2V's intake ports. The exhausts can be made to flow close to the 4V's. 230CFM will see you deep into the elevens. The only drawback is the open chambers. (BTW The Aussie close-chambered 2V heads supposedly have smaller ports than the American 2V's)

It should. But, I would not run an 850 in it. I tried one on a 4v headed motor and it didnt work worth a darn. I would use either a plain 750 dp, or better yet, a 750 HP.
