What are your favorite connecting rod brands? I'm looking to assemble a stroker kit myself instead of buying a kit, and I want quality parts. I'm thinking a SCAT forged crank, and Ross or Probe dome pistons. Rods I was thinking Crower or Lunati, but what do you expierenced engine builders think? I'm thinking around 500+ HP and 7000rpm for a strip car.

Oliver is the best in my book. Lunati Pro Mod rods are good but they are not Lunati's they are someone else's Crower I think re-packaged or so I've heard. Oliver cost a little more but they are worth it. ------------------ JS 69 Mustang Pro ET Drag

If it were mine, I would put Oliver rods in it, and anything except for Probe pistons. Too many guys don't get anywhere near what they ordered when they buy from Probe (just ask N2OMike what he thinks of Probe.) And with all the other good pistons manufacturers out there (Ross, C&A, Wiseco, JE, etc), it's dumb to risk a good motor buying a questionable brand of piston.

I picked up a set of new in the box Oliver billet's that fit my application on Ebay for about ~750, they run about $1200 a set retail. The workmanship is top notch, you can't even see the parting line. That being said, Crower also makes fantastic parts and I would not hesitate to spend my money on them. Manley also makes nice pieces, Child's & Albert, does to. ------------------ Jay Kilroy 68' Fastback GT 390 "No such thing as a cam thats too big"

Probably nothing is wrong with them. He asked what we thought were the "BEST" I've run SCAT cranks with very good results. JS

Would like to hear more opinions on Probe....good or bad!! I'm currently running some of probes stuff and have had good luck with it so far!! even on a 250 shot!! Although, they didn't set the heads up properly, didn't compensate for a 1.7 rocker arm and the cup that the spring sets in....was causing some coil bind and I had to change out my entire valvetrain.......

I can't speak about Probe parts but I have heard a lot of people speak poorly of there customer service. I know Ross used to make all of Probe pistons but I understand that they moved that work "in-house" so I would be nervous about trying them now.------------------ Jay Kilroy 68' Fastback GT 390 "No such thing as a cam thats too big"
