I'm thinking of gutting a sparkplug, welding a nut on the backside and using an allthread and jam nut for adjustable length. Any other ideas?------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

done it way back when works fine....go to the hardware store and get an acorn nut to go on the end so it doesn't gouge the piston top.................Jay------------------ ALL THROTTLE NO BOTTLE ! .....proudly keeping the neighbors mad for over 30 years Run what ya brung, and hope like hell ya brung enough 69 sportsroof(351 C) 65 Ranchero(200)now 351W 72 Ln 700 (361)

Go as big and strong as possible on the stud. Pistons can generate tons of pushing force when going up to TDC.------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank and girdle, 5.4 H-beams, Forged slugs, TFS alum. heads, ported Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 274 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)full street trim! That's what I did... works great. Just be careful that it doesn't get in the way of the valves as they go up and down. (might want to remove the rockers if it looks like something may hit) The porcelain will not come out without a fight. You'll need a hammer and round punch or chisel to crack it up and remove it. after that, drill/thread the plugs bore out to whatever size all-thread fits the best. Use a lock-nut against the top of the plug to keep the 'stop' from moving, and you're in business. Good Luck! ------------------ Mike Burch 66 mustang real street 302 4-speed 289 heads 10.63 @ 129.3 http://www.geocities.com/carbedstangs/cmml_mburch.html http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/healey/367 http://www.mustangworks.com/cgi-bin/moi-display.cgi?220 [This message has been edited by n2oMike (edited 08-23-2003).]
