Anyone try the difference. I have heard everything from dramatic difference to none.

I owned an "H" pipe T/A and it was enough of a pain to deal with. I'd never want to have to cut through an "X" and try to get it back together.

I think the benefit of an X-pipe is hard to predict. With an open exhaust system, it may do little to nothing over the H-pipe. With mufflers, it might help a little. They are supposidly always quieter at lower rpms. If you have mufflers, I would always run at least an H-pipe. Also I would put in connections that make the crossover section easily removable in case you need to drop the tranny.

I just put a 3" mandrel bent X pipe on my car, going through 1 chamber Delta Flowmasters, dumped at the axle. I did just have the 1 chambers bolted to the header and it was too loud for me. I can't tell any difference in power since I changed several other things at the same time. One thing I can tell you is it seems a little more quiet at idle but at full throttle I think it's just as loud as it was with just the mufflers bolted to the header. The X pipe seems to have a unique sound!!!!

I'll second the unique sound. Not sure how to describe it, but I like it.

From what I have heard it is really where you place the Xpipe to get the big gains you hear about. I don't think they'd really hold a candle to open headers but from what I've read if you place the xpipe in "the hot spot" or where the exhaust is hottest. Someone help me out here, I don't know the technicalities but I do know that if you put it in the right spot you can get good results. Heres an article thats helpful as to how they supposodely work http://www.drgas.com/art-sync.html Paul ------------------ 1970 Grande H code 351W FMX

Well, I haven't wasted any money in a week or two so I ordered the X pipe system. I have current dyno numbers so this should be a pretty good direct comparison. I'll post the numbers, good or bad, in a couple of weeks when I get it all together.
