Im sure after replacing the wornout rock hard weatherstripping in my Cougar, it will be much quieter, but also I know it wont solve the problem 100%, I would like to know what you guys would use to get a quieter than average ride in your car, I know of these brands, Dynamat, Accumat, Brownbread, BondedLogic & SuperSoundproofing. I know all these brands must work, but keep in mind I live in the North & I have heard that Dynamat lets loose when the temp goes under minus 15. Any Ideas? Keep in mind I am looking for better than average sounproofing in the car, because I have a good stereo & take roadtrips & nothing is more tiring than the head throb & ear ringing after 6 hours of loud music to cover up the wind & road noise.

I have had two recommendations from friends, but have not tried either yet. One buddy went to the junk yard and got the insulation from a wrecked Cadillac. He cut it to fit and was pleased with the results. The other friend used foil faced fiberglass insulation used in wrapping duct or insulating walls. He said it not only quieted his truck, but deflected the heat from the pavement better. I cannot personally vouch for the effective-ness of either, but both would hold up in extreme temps and would be cheap to acquire. Charlie

I used regular 1/2" household carpet underlay in mine. It was lightweight and easy to deal with and not to mention I already had some laying around the shop. ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank and girdle, 5.4 H-beams, Forged slugs, TFS alum. heads, ported Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 274 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)full street trim! This is not a flame on your post, but isn't there a better forum of this kind of question? I can understand you might not get the exposure on the cougar section as you might on the ford racing section, but there is probably a better area for it.

The only thing I know about soundproofing is how to tear it out of the car. Saves weight SteveW
