I got my new camshaft today that I won on Ebay. It is a new Reed solid roller, 275* @ .050, .675 lift. I paid $140 for it, plus shipping. I thought that was a real good deal since new roller cams go for around $300.

Good for you,

But I thought you didn't like solid rollers?

I already have a set of rebuilt roller lifters, so all I need is springs. So, it ends up being cheaper to use this roller cam than a comparable solid flat tappet. And anyways, I plan on spinning my stroker motor around 8000 rpm.

Are you going to double pin that cam? What are the recommended spring rates?

Oh yeah! It will be double pinned for sure. The cam that is in the car now is double pinned also.

It only calls for 170# @ 1.85. But I will set it up with around 230-240# @ 1.95.

Solid roller cam with "decent" spring pressure should have the cam doube pinned. I ran into problems once the seat pressure got over 220 lbs. Twice I sheared the pin then. That wrecks A LOT of stuff. I wont run a solid roller in anything now without it being double pinned.

Rob,

I was just ribbing you after your posts saying the flat tappet solids were just as good as a solid roller.
Sounds like a kick a$$ motor you're building.
