The engine shop 0-decked the block and Im ready to assemble the engine again. I asked his opinion on carburetor & distributor and he said since it would be mainly street performance I should go with a Holley street avenger 770 CFM/VS. I said what about an 870 CFM/VS, that I might run nitrous in the future? He said 770 was better for bottom end, 870 for top end. Ive always assumed I was going to have a problem of getting it to hook up. What do all of you think? He said I should go with a D.U.I. (HEI) distributor, that it would take the place of something like a MSD distributor, coil, and 6AL ignition box and all the wiring. What do all of you think? Please, I need all the opinions I can get so I can make a decision on these two important issues. This is my engine specs. D1VE block O-decked TRW forged pistons L2404-19cc dish 460 crank kit ARP rod bolts, moly rings bored .060 0ver for 472ci D3 heads milled .050 Guides & hardened exhaust seats SS valves 2.25 int / 1.75 exh Screw in studs & guide plates 3/8 push rods & roller tip rockers port matched intake ported exhausts & exhaust bumps removed Stealth 8012 intake 8 qt oil pan hi-v oil pump & ARP oil pump shaft windage tray C6 w/2400 stall Cam specs: 236 int / 240 exh , 562 int / 588 exh. Buck,Don't run a DUI! That's a glorified chevy ignition. Put an MSD distributor and a MSD ignition box in it. Sounds like a good street engine you're building, the smaller carb will be ok for it and the nitrous doesn't care how big the carb is because the air (oxygen) is injected under the carb. It will never know or care how gig your carb is. Good luck, SteveW

Ditto on the DUI. If you want a stock quality distributor, go Duraspark. ------------------ '70 Mustang Mach 1 - '70 Mustang Convertible - '72 Mustang Sprint - '94 F-150 Please remember our sponsors, Mustangs Plus, NPD, Osborn Reproductions, and FordRamAir.com

I beleive Alex used to sell DUI crap till they had too many problems with them and DUI wouldn't stand behind thier product and help resolve it. I wouldn't use one of those POS dizzies if it was given to me. As for carb, I would buy a plain old 750 DP (or VS if you porefer) for it and skip all the overpriced "fads" geared for the "mechanically challenged". For the $$ money $$ difference, I doubt if the that much better ($380 vs $260). And after looking at your motor specs, I would stick a 750 DP or 800 DP on it and not even mess with a VS carb.
