I read on another website that the hot setup to get weight transfer is to use the four cylinder springs.1. If this is not true what springs are better to use? I rather get right now since I will be rebuilding the whole front end this weekend. 2 Should I loosen the sway bar or remove it completely. THanks much the neophyte

The theory behind using a 4 or 6 cylinder front coil spring is the "Stored Energy" with them being compressed more than the V8 spring. This stored energy would cause the front end to rise quicker at launch transferring weight to the rear tires. And to let the front end settle back down sooner to prevent the front of the car from acting like a big air scoop. My thoughts on the sway bar are....If this is primarily a street car running 13's or higher, leave it attached. The hassle of attaching and unattaching it aren't going to be worth the ET gains (tenths or hundredths not seconds when not attached and not many of either). If your car is primarily a strip car, setup to go straight line only, then take it completely off.

I am quite familar with weight transfer. I use 6 cylinder tortioin bars bars in my Duster and get great weight tranfser. I just wanted to make sure that the 4 cyl springs were strong enough to hold the front end up with the heavier motor. This will be strictly a strip car.

What car is this? A fox body? And what engine are you putting in it a 435 series big block? If so the 4 cyl springs might be coil bound. SteveW

Just a 302, but I diod not know how much weight differnce there is between the 4 banger and the 302. I am surprised to see that there is only 75 lbs differnce.
