I can't find any fan shroud for my car. The one's that are specific for my application rub the fan. I would settle for a universal shroud, but I can only find them in chrome, I want black. So I was considering making one out of fiberglass...would that work or not?

it will work as long as it is made & positioned properly (fan blades half inside/half outside of the shroud).
have fun

Do you mean that the fan needs to be in the center of the shroud? or do you mean that the fan needs to be on the edge of it? (If your looking at it from above)

looking down at shroud/fan, fan must be half inside/half outside of shroud. this makes the fan very efficient pulling air thru radiator. incorrect fan placement (with shroud) makes for poor air flow. fan should be 1 to 2 inches from radiator for the best performance.

I'm so confused..
Mabye this will work: Do you mean to say that from the radiator to the fan should be 3" and from the fan to the back of the shroud should be 3"?
or
(with a fan thats 1.5" wide) From the radiator to the fan should be 5.25" and from the center of the fan to the end of the shroud should be .75"

Basically, should the fan be tucked inside the shroud, half way; or should it be sticking half the way out?

A pic would help

now i`m confused! LOL!!!!
from rear face of radiator to center of fan (if fan is 1 1/2 inches wide)you want a distance of 1 3/4 to 2 3/4 inches.
now for the shroud. you should be able to see the back half of the fan ( the front half of the fan will be inside the shroud).
1 1/2 wide fan....3/4 inches of the fan inside the shroud,3/4 inches of the fan outside of the shroud. i hope this helps.
sorry,no pics availible at this time.
