After getting my block align honed my machine shop guy checked the main bearing clearence and he got a bit more than .0025, i measured it again today and i got a bit more than .0020 the first time and got .0020 the second time. I dont know if i should go by my machine shops measurement or mine, since im only a begginer. What are the proper steps for plastigauging ?, i may be doing it wrong. I really don't want to mess up on this engine. please help me out thanks.

Your machine shop probably did NOT use plastigauge. They used micrometers. That's way more accurate.------------------ Ben Grabber Green '70 Mach I 351C 4V Robbin Egg Blue '79 Fairmont 351C 4V

Align honing should not affect your bearing clearance, if it is done correctly. If the bearings have too much clearance it is either the crank is undersized or the bearings are oversized. Here is a page that explains how a block is align honed.http://www.esiracingengines.com/pages/alignhone.html
