Since the cam is wiped out in my current motor, it's time to fix all the problems. That means new converter, camshaft, stroker kit, etc. I want to build a 302-based engine that will work well with my Victor Jr. heads (which I bought new for $900 at the time- couldn't pass it up). I have my current block, which is a tall deck 302, or a '90 5.0 block and roller lifter stuff, and a Victor Jr. intake to use. Other than those items, the rest of the combo is yet to be decided. Should I go 331? 347? Dome pistons for mucho compression? Hyd. roller or solid flat tappet? Do I need to really spin the engine to make good power or just more cubes than 302? Any ideas or known combos would be a great help. Might as well start planning my winter project now. Thanks!------------------ Kyle Laramore 63 Fairlane: 302, Victor Jr. heads and intake, Comp 31-639-5 solid cam, Super Comp headers, MSD 6AL, locked Duraspark Distributor, 650 Holley DP carb, C4, 3000 stall converter, manual valve body, 8" rear, Strange axles, 4.11 gears 66 Mustang coupe: 289, Offy intake, Crane Blazer hyd. camshaft, Autolite 4100 carb, Headman long tube headers, 3spd tranny, 8" rear, 3.80 gears

I was thinking both those things. Coast High Performance offers an all forged 331 stroker kit for $1299 or an all forged 347 for $1599. Would I need titanium retainers, main girdle, and stud girdle to hit 8000rpm?
