I was cleaning up my block from when it fragged a cam a couple of months ago. I noticed that the lifter bores at the fragged cam lobes were scuffed pretty bad. Any good fix for this? What does it normally cost to sleeve the lifter bores?

Around here, boring/bushing all 16 lifter bores goes for around $400 Depending on how much $ you've already got into the block, and/or if it's a rare one to begin with (side-oiler, Boss, ect.), then it's worth looking into. Garden variety 289-302's are still fairly easy to come by ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

How bad are they scuffed? I ran a block in my racecar for a couple of years that had 2 of the lifter bores scarred pretty badly. I just ran a small fine grit cartridge roll thru them a couple of times to knock any sharp edges off and ran it. So long as the side clearances don't get way out of line, it shouldn't hurt much, especially on a motor that isn't going to see 7500 rpm.If you do decide to use a different block, let me know if you want to get rid of the one with the scuffed lifter bores, I'll use it.

They might clean up with a hone at least so that there is no sharp edges..... I'm not sure yet. Comp makes .001 over solid lifter. Anyone ever used these lifters?
