Thanks! I know, go with a c4, but I have been too every junkyard in town and cant find one.

Keep looking for a c-4! Look in a different town if you have to. They can't be that hard to find. The c-6 is too much tranny for a small block, in fact a lot of guys run c-4s behind big blocks (for racing).

I knew thats what everyone would say, but trust me when I say I cant find one. Ive looked everywhere. Even places out of town.

Do a search on ebay, there's at least half a dozen C4's listed.

A C6 will swallow up alot of power. A stock 289 isn't exactally bursting at the seams with torque, so you'd be giving up quite a bit. Don't forget the custom driveshaft, a custom crossmember, trans tunnel butchery, an enormous trans cooler, blah blah blah blah...

Keep looking for a C4

C4's from the 70's are getting very hard to find in a junk yard these days. I did a bit of looking last week for one and no luck or they wanted $100 for one that needs rebuilt and it was the only one I found.

Ran across all kinds of small block C6's that I would have given my an arm and leg for years ago.
