I have a spare 10" or 12" electric fan and plan on putting it on my car for a short beach trip. I need it to help keep my car cool while I'm sitting in beach traffic. My question is, which way should it blow? I thought you were supposed to make it blow towards the engine, but some people say it needs to pull air out (which would be fighting the engine driven fan in there now); what do you think?

Are you running a shroud now? That would probably cool your motor more effeciently if you're not. If you do mount an 'auxilary' 12v. fan in front, it does need to 'push' in the same direction as the mechanical fan ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Well, if your trying to cool your car off, and not the people standing in front of it, I would suggest you make sure it blows toward the engine. The people who told you that it should go the other way were probably giving you some bs just for asking. I won't bother asking them any more questions..

I think your friends are referring to the different way fans are set up in cars. Some fans are mounted in front of the radiator, and blow air through the radiator. Other fans are mounted behind the radiator and suck through. If you put a sucking fan in front of the radiator, it will suck air out the front of the car, which is inefficient since it will be fighting against the air coming at you as you drive.

Any good electronics store will carry the 20/30A Bosch relays. These are water resistant and I've never had one fail.I'm using one on my starter solenoid and the other to run my start retard. Best part is they're only a couple of bucks each! Greg
