I'm on my 2nd cable for my C-6/429 in less than 30 miles. The cable blows out from the cable housing right before the lever on the trans. I've been buying the basic and not heavy duty (b&m) cable. Any other ideas other than maybe getting the heavier cable?

It's a good 4-5 inches from the headers. I guess it could be the heat though.

that's my only thought, my shifter cable bracket rests against the exhaust but havn't driven the car

it might be the shifter isn't in time with the trans, whent the trans selects the gear and the shifter isn't moving the cable quite there
??

The linkage seems to be synch'd and fine. For whatever reason, it's just blowing the guts out of the cable shield.

I will. Thanks. We'll see how good Summit is about warranty returns too.

You probably ought to spring for the HD cable if you pop another one. But, in the meantime, make sure that you are not bending the cable too tightly anywhere along it's length. If it is popping out of the jacket it must be under a lot of stress which can come from trying to make too tight of a corner. Each bend should be as large a radius as you can make it. Try moving the cable manually without it connected to the shifter or the trans after you have it routed the way you want it. It should move smoothly and without binding, without a great deal of effort (you will probably need pliers though). If it is really stiff, you are probably bending it too much.

Good luck.

Thanks. Do you think the heavier cable will make a difference? I have no choice but to make one fairly severe bend right the lever, but it did move freely unconnected.

Why the severe bend?? I didn't have a problem with the cable routing for my c6, no sharp turns...

The "heavy duty" cable is a lot better than the cheap one. Big difference.

It's a reverse pattern, so the cable has to turn arround.
