This is the first time the motor has been fired with this manifold. The carb is a 750DP list 4779. It was blueprinted by BG years ago and was called their 4779S. It has rear idle adjustment and powervalve.

It has 11.4 comp,Mild head porting (289HI-PO casting) 194/150 valves,Comp Cams Solid 250/260 .050 106ls

What stagger should I put in.I read a little and found that Moneymaker doesn't recomend a square qetting,so where do I start???

OOP'S, I gave the wrong compression. It's 12:1.

The headers are 1 5/8.

Timing is 28 initial, 34 total.

The engine has about 3-3.5 inch vacuume in gear.

A bit more on the carb. It's a loaner, so drilling restrictions is out of the question.

The jets that came in it from BG were Primary 72 with PV
Secondary 82 no powervalve.

Converter is a new (untested) and has an "advertised" flash speed of 4000. gears are 4.88 with a 26 inch slick.

When I ran stock 750 DP a few years ago on a 289, I used 72 in the front with a 3.5 PV and pink pump cam . In the rear I ran 79 jets and a blue pump cam. Squirters were both 31. Timingwas locked out at 36 degrees.

Every motor is different so you may need a baseline run before guessing which way to go. I always like to unhook the secondary rod and fine tune the primaries before adding the secondaries to the mix. My carbs seem to react better at leaving off the line by adjusting the idle mixture with a cold engine.

Yup, you'r right.

I was in too much of a hury to get away from work and made an error in my thinking.

I haven't been able to get to a computer till now.

I knew I made a blunder as I was driving away from work and thought about what I replied.

So you see I'm the FREAKIN MORON!
