Are there any rules that limit how far back you can place the engine. I want to put it as far back as I can to get more weight to the rear end. The way I have it set up now #1 plug is in the center of the front cross member.

I don't know of any rules against moving your engine back. You'll have to rebuild your firewall to the rule book though.
