I will be using a Victor jr. intake and Victor Jr. heads on my 351w. I have the 9.480 deck height 351w and i have heard that some intakes do not fit correctly because they were made to fit the 9.500 deck height 351w. Will i have this problem?

please let me know thanks.

Your talking about .020 shorter deck you might be ok But I would check how good it fits and go from there. Others will Know more but I think you will be ok.

Just a little FYI, keep in mind that you can use a thicker or thinnner intake gasket to get the port alignment correct. I'm running a similar setup as you and had to switch from a FelPro 1262 to a 1262R, the R gasket is a little thicker!!

I had to modify a Vic Jr to use on my 383W with a 69 block. Not a major problem. Did it with a die grinder and then used a sander to get the area smooth.

The newer model Vic Jr intakes have a ridge above each intake runner where the edge of the intake meets the head. This ridge is so serirous porters can match the intake to heads with raised intake runners. The ridge keeps the intake from sitting down all the way onto the heads when you use a the 9.480 early block. With the lower deck height the heads are slightly closer together, and the intake is wider due to the ridges. So, it won't quite fit. E-bok had an earlier version of the Vic Jr that didn't have the ridges. It had the same part #. The early version also didn't have the cast in injector bungs. The old style fit an earlier engine with no problem. I just ground the ridges on th enew one until they were almost flat with side of the flange. Took about 30 minutes.

Compare the new style to the old style intake:

Hey CometGT1974 Do you also have the early 351w block? Do you think using the fel-pro 1262R gasket will solve my problem? Will the port sizes on the gaskets be too big for the port sizes on the heads? Sorry for all the questions.
Please help me out thanks.
