are march pullies any good?? I know loosing rotational weight with the aluminum pullies should save some hp, but are they built to last??

Should i go with aluminum or underdrive the accesories, just power steering/alt/water on my car.

Also are serpentine pullies better than v-grove?? i heard they didn't throw belts the same, but never heard of anyone with a belt throwing problem

I can't vouch for performance gains, but a bud of mine put a full set of March pulleys and brackets on a SBC. Top quality all the way, very impressive setup.

They are billet aluminum.. can't really get much better than that for the application. They also have clearcoat on them to protect them from stains and give them a nice luster that should last.

The hp gains have really nothing to do with the weight.. your only loosing maybe a pound or two by going aluminum. The power gains come from underdriving your accessories and water pump. Making them rotate slower means less power being consumed at the sacrafice of cooling or charge.

March sells different setups, some designed for power, some for comfort. Depending on where you live, how much and how far you drive, and how often can all depict which set you should get.

Serpintine is nice because you'll only have a single belt to drive all your accessories. It also has a better tensioner typically, some spring loaded, some using rod ends on an adjustable shaft which looks pritty trick. I've never had a problem throwing a v-belt on my march pullies, but then again I don't use old belts or let it get loose, which is probably more the problem than the actual design of the belt. There can be a lot involved with running a serpentine system however. You'll need to consider water pump rotation direction and water inlet side. Also, if you need a different pump, and deside to go with an aluminum high flow, make sure you purchase this first as sometimes they are not exactly stock when it comes to placement of the pulley. If you have the time, buy the pump and get everything setup, then do messurements for each pulley. If your pulleys aren't straight, your belts will fall off! March will take returns on pulleys, but they must be in PERFECT shape.

Mike

taking in to account that the couple pounds lost are rotational weight, it may help as well is what i was saying
