I recieved my ARP Rod Bolts from Summit, though i noticed the bolt heads are oval. The part number on the package and ARP's website say they should fit a 351w. Will these Rod Bolts Work?

The engine is a 69 351w.

please let me know thanks.

Will they work? It depends......

Do you have rods that are straight cut where the head of the rod bolt sits? Then no, they won't work.

Is the area where the rod bolt sits oval cut or the existing rod bolts oval cut? Then yes they will work.

I don't remember the exact years but from about 76 to about 87 Ford truck 351W engines had the football shaped rod bolt heads. Other 351W engines had the rectangulat bolt head. You should have the proper bolt to match your rod. They obviously sent you the wrong type.

Yes, these bolts WILL work. This is the exact same setup I have in both my 460CJ engine and my 351W. Both rods are straight cut originally and the ARP bolts are football-headed. The 460 has been together for 10 years now and has been used hard on the road, on the strip and has been road-raced. I generally keep the revs down to about 6500 if it matters. The 351W actually has a set of the same bolts I took out of a previous 460 I built (I used to religiously replace lots of parts in my younger days) and that has had hard use on the road and has been roadraced with an rpm limit of about 5500, simply because the rules prevent me building a high revving engine. Jam those bolts in, they will be fine! HTH
Cheers, Martin.

Some 351W rods are cut for square bolts, some round. The round (football) ones are supposed to be a bit stronger. ARP made those bolts so they would fit either application. You'll be fine.
