Does anyone else offer a kit to convert a Powerglitch to a BBF? This JW bellhousing thing leaking is getting old! thinking seriously of a c4 or Lenco here. EXCEPT it would cost mega $$$ to switch now. I think maybe my powerglitch senses how bad I hate chebbies. (sigh) P.S. everyone hat is going to post switch to a standard, go ahead and post, but the ONLY standard I would run in my car would be a LENCO, and they aint cheap. What about that AOD thing I saw on another post? Also doesn't someone besides TCI make an adapter plate? JS

ATI makes (or used to) an adaptor plate.Don't you have an Utlrabell? If it leaks I would suspect something is wrong. Most guys that run them think real highly of them. Maybe you got a bad one.

Yes it is an ultrabell. I think I am going to have to install o rings around the bolts. the newer ones have this the older ones don't. JS

Why not go ahead and get the Ultra Case too? Let me help you spend your money. The ones I have seen with the ultra case and ultra bell didn't leak eve when installed without sealer or o-rings.

Mine leaks too.I just wipe the little bit up from the floor of the trailer once and a while. That fixes it quite nicely till I put the car in there again. I suspect a Dedenbear case would cure it, if I had Jerry's money! As someone else said here, if it quits leaking, that means its out of fluid. Can't remember who said that. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'

Sorry for the late reply. Lot's of overtime lately. The Ultra Bell that I had leaked in the same place with two different transmissions. I have seen many guys with the same problem if they were using an older Ultra Bell with a stock case glide. I think the bell puts extra stress on the case and causes just enough flex in the pump area to cause the leak. I have also seen the older Ultra Bell used with an Ultra Case and not leak. The Ultra Case is much stronger and won't flex, so no leaks. Buddy of mien might have an Ultra Case for sale if you are interested. The newer UB's don't leak even with a stock case. They have a machined recess around the bolt holes for a rubber O-ring. Buddy of mine has one of these newer ones. Doesn't leak, but when the bell was pulled off there was fluid in the bolt holes. The fluid was contained by the O-rings. You could call JW and get the specs on the machines recesses for the O-rings and have it done locally. I bet it would fix it. As KV mentioned ATI makes an adapter plate. It's great. I have one on the dragster. 1/2" thick aluminum plate. It's a little pricey though. Costs more because it uses a special crank adapter to match the converter to the crank. Their crank adapter is thicker than the JW or TCI adapter to make up for the 1/2" thick plate. And the adapter only works with their flexplate. You pretty much have to buy the whole kit. I know of 4 bbf dragsters and 1 tube chassis Mustang using this setup. Later, David Cole

I talked to JW about the o ring thing. They didn't have one in stock to measure, told me to call back Monday. Ok. Looks like I'll either machine some o ring holes myself or send the whole thing back to them so they can re-certify it as well. Anyway, How much does he want for the Ultra case? Also, what is the part number for the ATI plate. I run an 1/8th inch midplate anyway so it probably wouldn't hurt me on the driveshaft. hey if I had Dad V's money I'd just buy the LENCO, put it in a new Jerry Bickel chassis and go racing Thanks! JS

I'll ask him what He would take for the Ultra Case. I'll let you know. Here is the ATI page. $360 for the plate. Not sure if that includes the crank adapter and converter botl spacers. You could call them. The whole kit is $549, but that includes everything, including an new SFI flexplate. http://www.atiperformanceproducts.com/products/adapterk/akit.htm Later, David Cole [This message has been edited by Dave_C (edited 07-11-2003).]

Nah.... If you're gonna buy a chassis that can handle A LOT of power, I would buy a new Tim McCamis chassis. There's a reason all the really fast pro mods are running his stuff.

Jerry, if you had my money, you'd be racing a Yugo. As to the McAmis cars, a good buddy has built 2 of the double frame rail variety. I watched the current one go together, its a 63 Vette with a carbon fiber body. The rear section of the chassis is a thing of wonder. I tried many times to figure out how the forces are distributed. There are bars running every which way, and none of them are there by accident, I'm sure. The car simply drives away from the starting line. No wasted motion, just leaves flat and straight. Its really decieving. It just takes off in what appears to a leisurely fashion, only the 60 foot time is 1.10! My glide leaks also, and I really don't like it, but a little drip isn't something I can't deal with. ------------------ 63 Falcon 377 Cleveland stroker Flying Toilet alchohol injection. 6.19 @ 110 MPH 1/8 mile 2002 Ranger FX4 daily driver 2000 F350 PSD Crew cab dually - Like commuting in a B52!! 98 US Cargo Phantom II 28'
