I purchased a holly 600 4bbl from a guy new in box it was in storage for about 10 yrs. Anyway I went to a car show and talked to a carb-rebuilder He informed me that the gaskets and seals need to come out because of the newer gas on the market will break down the old gaskets and plug the carb. up ??? Is this guy trying to drum up buissness or is there truth to what he is saying ?? What are the new carb kits materials made of ?? Thanks Jim

The new kits use Viton for the soft parts and a blue non stick coated "reuseable" gasket. They really help the on car repairs, no scraping gaskets off on the car on jet or power valve changes. I think it would be worth a few bucks to replace the gaskets. (just my opinion) Assuming its a 4160 vac. sec. a Holley quick kit #37-1542 would do the trick and they're inexpensive.

Keep the Vac. carb. Its a better street carb for a driver car.(My opinion)
