I just love saying Dinwiddie!!!

Anyone going?? I will be going as a spectator on Saturday. Maybe on Sunday also.

There is a chance that I will have a handful of complimentary passes to the event. I typically get them when VMP does big events, but I normally will not know if I have them until late Friday afternoon. If I end up getting a bunch of them, I will post it here. It's always nice to save 20 bucks...

oh... and believe it or not... there is no rain in the forcast for Sat or Sun

I was nicely told today that my services were no longer needed at VMP. I was given several lame excuses but the writing was on the wall when they had been in a budget meeting for the past few days. Several rainouts have devasted the income and I guess I was expendable. My dedication to the track was second to none and I put in more hours on a weekly basis than anyone. I never missed a race and grew the track in the past two years after it had gotten in miserable shape and I know racers can attest to this. I have never been used like this before but live and learn.

I just want to say to the racers that I had the honor to meet that I hope everything goes good for you and hope to see you in other places. By the way, if you know anyone that is looking for a dedicated worker and manager let me know. With 4 kids, I need to get busy again.

I hope all have a great year!

Greg Duff
Ex-Track Manager
VMP"

i dont know him or anyone else at the track but he seems to be getting a lot of support from the racers on the other site.

Nope, I didn't see that. It's been a good while since I have raced at VMP.. about 4 years... I have been moving around quite a bit. Everything has been getting killed in this region because of the weather. My radio stations put on a friday night concert series in Richmond. We've had two rainouts and two shows that have gone on, but weather threatend the whole time taking a toll on our crowd.

There have been rumors that VMP has been having financial problems the last few years...

I'd be interested in reading that thread. Can you post a link or email it to me??

I'm going racing and try to get my first win in over a year.

The weather around here has really "put the hurt" on a lot of weekend oriented activitie's, especially race tracks. They said on the news a couple of weeks back we had rain at least one day out of the weekend 13 of the 16 weekends up to that point. It's tuff for tracks to make any money when it rains all the time. The weather has really put a financial strain on some local tracks.

And off the originally topic, a lot of the times when a track manager gets replaced, there is more to the story then you see, or hear. It's too bad for the former manager, but there's more than one side to every story.

I went on Sat.as a spectator and even got Trina to go.It was a good time.I paid an xtra $10 to put the 03 Cobra vert. in the show. Was worth it as I got to park right behind the grandstands and on hard pavement.Made for easy trips to get water, which was often.Lots of good racin with late models, vintage and lots of trucks. Those Lightnings are fast ,but the fastest truck was an old 64/65 steel beast. This FFW has gotten much better the past few years.
