If it isn't one thing, it's another...Last time I had my car out, it ran fine, no problems. Now, when I go to start my car, it cranks over fine, but won't start. Apparently no gas is coming out of the carb. There was gas in the float bowls(had to rock car pretty good to get it to spill out), but the fuel pressure gauge is not showing any presure? Did my mechanical fuel pump give it up? Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks, Tom
P.S. Yes, there is gas in the tank. ------------------ 2002 F350 4x4, True Blue, v10 Auto, 4.30LS, 35" BFG's 1991 Mustang LX 5.0L, AOD *need to sell* 1970 Cougar, 351C-4v, C6

Zero fuel pressure... either a restriction somewhere or bad pump diaphragm. Loosten the fuel pump inlet line a bit, to verify that you've got free-flowing gasoline from the tank to the pump. If that's good, remove the line at the carb, use something to recover the fuel, spin the motor over to see if it's pumping fuel to the carbueretor Here's the screwy thing... if you're sure that the carb has fuel in it, it should at least try to fire. I'd verify the ignition system to be in time and functional ------------------ 1965 GT coupe, 333ci aluminum headed/solid cammed stroker, four speed, 3.70:1 9" All Blue Oval, no blue bottle http://mustangsandmore.50megs.com/V8Thumper.html

Pump the accelerator and check to see if the squirters are pumping fuel. Could be bad diaphram in the accel pump or stopped up from sludge. If there is gas in the carb it should at least pump fuel from the squirter. If it doesn't, then a cleaning and rebuild may be in order. The loss of fuel pressure may be a different problem to remedy. Some things to check are cracked rubber hoses or stopped up fuel tank screen. ------------------ 1966 Mustang Coupe: Custom glass hood and BIG scoop sits atop a 289 stroked to 331 c.i., Steel crank and girdle, 5.4 H-beams, Forged slugs, TFS alum. heads, ported Stealth 8020 intake, Xtreme 274 Solid Roller, Holley 750 HP, long tubes, 4speed, 9" 3.50 posi. 11.86 @ 116 mph (7.62 @ 93 mph)full street trim! The squirters are not shooting any fuel? I pulled the carb last night, and took off the front fuel bowl and metering plate, but didn't see any sludge? Thanks, Tom

Tom,Here is a link to a Holley web page for tech info on the carb....in one of the other links, it will give you pics of the squirter circuit. http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/TechServ/TechInfo/FMCTech.html But, without gas in the bowl, it won't squirt any.
