I'm running a '90 mazda b-2200, 302 keith balck flat tops, roush 200 heads, edl. torqer 289 intake, comp cams # 305h cam, C-4 with B&M shift kit, 9" 4.86 rear and 28X11.5x15 MT slicks. Truck is 2370 lbs without driver. Now, my best runs have been 8.08 with 1.88 60'. Started out with 4.11 rear and a TCI 3500 stall, went to a PTC 10" 4500, no improvment in 60'. changed to 4.86 gear, no change, 5500 8" PTC, still no improvment in 60's at all. It is hooking really good, no spin at all. I'm a little lost at this point. Any ideas?[This message has been edited by CJR (edited 06-20-2003).]

I'm thinking your power and torque curves are kinda flat. That would explain why the gear and converter changes aren't having an impact like they should. As light as your ride is the engine isn't making much power to run those times. No offense, but it's time to look under the hood. SteveW

My opinion (for what its worth)is that your cam has way to much duration for the amount of compression that you have.A smaller solid flat tappet cam would help lots.------------------ 91 LX 398w street/bracket 6.88 1/8 60FT 1.44

Thanks for the inputs. I think I might have found another problem. I fired the truck up after dark and it looked like a light show under the hood. New coil, wires and plugs and we'll try again tomorrow night if the weather cooperates.

Made another run tonight. The miss is not near as bad now, 7.95 1.76 60' @ 85.4 MPH. It still breaks down at 6300 to 6500 so I'm not getting to the shift point yet. James: I'll check compression when I change plugs tomorrow Jerry: nope, the 10 inch went back for credit on the 8 inch when it wouldn't do what they said it would. Those ppl are great to deal with!!!
