I am looking to put more cam in my 289. I presently have a Crane cam which is [email protected] and .498 lift. Along with that I'm running 1.7 rollers. So Lift is about .530 and duration 224.

I would like to go solid but most cam manufacturers go to a good amount of lift when duration goes up. So I am thinking about this cam from Isky

http://www.iskycams.com/productdisplay.php?sku=1787&hdwt=31101&loc=101&dealer=no

I have not heard much comment about Isky here at all. I like this cam as it puts me in the RPM range I am looking for but the lift with my 1.7's should keep me well under .550.

I have 10.1:1 and home ported E7 heads, RPM intake, 3000 RPM stall, and 4.62 gears. All in a 3300~3500lb car.

Any good or bad about Isky???

Come on guys what do you think of this cam??? I don't here much about Isky Cams here, but I always thought they were suppposed to be pretty good. This is about the only solid cam I can go with that has a good amount of duration but not tons of lift. They make another cam with the same duration and less lift. Let me know what you think of the specs,

Lift .512
Duration @ .050 240
Lobe centers 108

My set up in case you don't know is,

289, 10:1, E7 heads home ported, RPM intake, 625 Road Demon Carb, motor is balanced, Headers, X pipe exaust, AOD, 4.62 gears, TCI Competition Converter 3000rpm Stall, in a '68 Fairlane.

TIA,

That cam is too big for the rest of the combo. Add bigger heads, intake, carb and compression... and you might be able to take advantage of it.

I would probably add a small solid, such as the Comp 270S (224/224 @ 0.050")... or one of their Xtreme Energy solid lifter units. Currently, they are only offered (off the shelf) for the SBC, but they will grind it for a Ford as well if you call them direct. I like the XS-268S for your combination. It measures 230/236 @ 0.050" with a 110 lobe seperation. Lobe lift is 0.325"/0.334" (multiply by your rocker ratio to get the valve lift) It's a tight lash unit that only requires 0.012".

Here is the page they are on.
