okay, having given up my plan for world domina... i mean slotting a 32valver (too hard down here in Aus) into a '65 Fastback, what sort of hardships can I expect from fitting a Quad downdraft weber setup onto a 289?

Thanks,
Ben

Any hints on where to start with the choke sizes and jetting?? Having come from Alfa Romeos which came with Weber or Dellorto side-drafts, I'm kinda familiar with the carbs, but do know getting the jetting right will cost $$
Of course the other option is to go to a set of weber style throttle bodies and inject it... but I may be able to lay my hands on the downdraft webers off of a 308 Ferrari for reasonable money....

One of The Weber books has formulae to get you in a rough "Ballpark" starting point for chokes and jets.
You really need a wide band O2 sensor in one of the primary tubes to easily tune them.

Have you heard of Inglese? He is a Weber guru that specializes in Cobras and Shelbys. If you let him know your specifics, he can probably set you up with the proper jets and stuff to get you where you need to be.

I spose a Question I should have asked is What intake manifolds are out there? I know theres a Holman Moody manifold, and Redline do one down here, are there any others?
What is the difference running wise between IDAs and IDFs? Coming from Side-drafts (DCOE webers and Dellortos) the downdrafts give a few more options which I'm not quite completely sure on...

Thanks Guys
Ben

idf's are for more street type engines ida's more race type engines
either will work perfect
a yankie manifold will cost you **** loads
just get a redline manifold have the ports cleaned up and matched to your heads
a redline manifold will cost you about $900
new carbs about $700 to $750 each plus linkages etc.....its still cheaper than injection

Yeah, definitly cheaper than injection... Given that the manifolds and linkages are the same between injection and webers, I did a cost breakdown
4xThrottle bodies @ $560 each
1xInjection Conmputer @ $900+
1xFuel Pump @ $600
8xInjectors @ $? each (I'd stopped pricing by this time...lol)
Surge tank
Loom

Dyno tuning time would be about equal...(I have a friend who has been through the process with a *very* well known car, Street Machine of the year in about '95? Colin Townsends Fat FJ)
When compared to the cost of Webers, injection just doesn't make sense...

The redline manifold takes IDFs?
Does Redline do a linkage kit?

Thanks Guys
Ben
