i try to keep a spare motor at all times. i know a heater blower motor from a 1971 mustang will work. i read somewhere about one from a ford truck was heavier and ran a little faster. does anyone know what year/model to ask for? thanks

I asked for a fan motor from a 1974 Ford pickup, however, when I bought another fan motor for my 78 Fairmont, it looked identical. Both work fine, and look exactly the same as the motor that came with my Moroso WP drive kit.

78 Fairmont 428 4 speed 10.20@130mph
80 Fairmont 302 5 speed 12.8@105mph
85 Mustang NHRA Stocker 302 5speed. soon to be under the index!

Mike/Rory:
On another post, it was mentioned that a good replacement motor for the MOROSO drive setup can be had at a reasonable price (and you don't have to wonder whether or not its been run a bazillion hours or water soaked) from your local NAPA store: Part # #PM250E 12V 99112.

I don't know what the HP rating, current draw, or rpm the NAPA motor runs at - but I'd guess the NAPA guy should be able to tell ya.
