My engine has 15K miles on a rebuild with cast aluminum pistons. I was wondering how my pistons will hold up if I put a cam, heads, intake and carb on it. Is there a limit to cast aluminum pistons? Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks. Here is my plan for this summer: Edelbrock Performer RPM manifold Edelbrock 600 cfm carb 268H comp cam

Your pistons will be fine for the upgrades you are planning. Just avoid a big shot of nitrous. SteveW

Just remember, Hyper's are nothing more than a set of cast pistons with a slightly different aluminum composition making them a bit stronger than std cast pistons.

so how did you get 15k miles on it without the cam, heads, intake and carb? haha lol. i redone a 302 last year with stock cast pistons and turned 6000 rpm frequently. were your pistons new or were they in the motor when rebuilt? sometimes the 302 pistons had small stress cracks and could fall apart under abuse.------------------ 68 mustang coupe, 302 with ported D0OE 351w heads 1.84"/1.54" valves, factory crank and rods with arp bolts, standard vol oil pump, .520"/.544" lift, 234/244 deg duration at .050", 292/302 adv duration cut on 114 lsa, KB .200 dome hyper pistons, 9.84:1 compression, 1 5/8" headers, weiand Xcelerator intake with 750 holley DP on top

My uncle rebuilt the motor in the early 90's (can't remember what year) with cast aluminum pistons. I was really young at the time and didnt know that much about cars. My dad just wanted a bone stock rebuild (no cam, carb, intake). Thanks for all the input.
