Alex, do you have the Vasco Jet (spelling) imput shafts in your JPT c-4s or the hardened shafts? Roger

Stock HD FoMoCo my friend. If you don't have or make a legitimate 500+ ft lbs of torque, you do not need the trick expensive shaft.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! That's what I would of thought too, but in my second round at the WFC6 as I shifted into either second or high (can't really remember as I was concentraiting on running down the slower car) the engine free wheeled and hit the rev limiter and I coasted to a stop with a lot of grinding noises. I got around to pulling the tranny this last weekend and found the imput shaft twisted off and stuck in the converter, the stater support is also busted off the pump and stuck in the converter. Bob at JPT says I may be border line of needing the better shaft. They had me box up the converter and other broken parts and send them up to Eaton Rapids, said they'd get me back staightened out. :-) I think it was just a fluke, maybe a bad shaft, but I think I'll spring for the better shaft just so I don't have to go through it again. overkill! Roger, I would run the hardened shaft in your car. I have one in mine. It may be overkill, but I hate breaking parts.

I have been fortunate. I have only broken one and that was when I rolled over a sprag. My own fault for trying to continue to race that way. I regularly see the BBF stockers and superstockers twist off stock shafts. But....they all make well in excess of 500 ft lbs of torque.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the one I broke was hardened. Where it twisted off, the outer about 3/16 of steel sure looked a lot different then the center. Alex,is that what the factory Heavy Duty is? Roger

All of the "steel" inputs that I have seen are broached. That is where the splines are are tapered at the shaft middle ends. The HD Ford one looks like a stock unit only a bith thicker and the splines are longer.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS! I am pretty certain that FoMoCO has discontinued them, but I'll check. 70-74 E-350 was the usage.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 First SS/MA in the TENS!
