My motor is still new but I think it should not be getting up to 210-220 by the time I get back to the pits. I tried an electric fan which good but it is only 70 degrees out now what is going to happen when it gets really hot. I have a stock 3 core rad in my 66 fastback and I was thinking about getting a custom one, built but I am leaving this as a last resort. I have no thermostat but I have a restricter (just cut the guts out of the old thermostat)Don't know what else to do

Sounds like it's time for a radiator. I have a 351W in my 65 and I bought an aluminum radiator on ebay for around $180.00. I had to fabricate my own mounts for it, but that's pretty easy. I also put an electric pusher fan on the front of the radiator, never goes above 180. I can send pics of the mounts if you want to see them. [email protected]

I also went thru the same thing. I got tired of pushing it down the pit lane in an attempt to keep it cool then after a run using a garden sprayer to cool it down; I finally bought an aluminum Griffin radiator. Pricey, yes; but what a NIGHT/DAY difference! - no regrets!

First of all is this a street engine ? if so put the t-stat back in! second are you running a shroud ? and have you changed your radaitor cap a bad cap will not hold the pressure and will cause temp to rise..Next does your bottom hose have a spring in it / if not it is proply colasping.and causing this problem..Look in the cap ind see if you have gas bubbles (head gasket can be preasurizing the rad) also look to see if you tubes are cloged from debri. Tube are clear had checked before installing motor, bottom hose didn't have a coil in it but I did install one the only thing I didn't change was the rad cap.I don't think I need the shroud because I am running a 16" electric fan. Thanks for the suggestions. Why would a bad rad cap cause it to run hot?

because the seal will crack and not hold the pressure..Pressure should be between 13-16 lbs for street and up to 22 for racing only ..You still did not tell meis it for the street or racing only..If its street please put the t-stat back in..Bruce

oh yeah and one more thing if your 16 inch fan does not have a shroud get one it does make a difference because it will not pull from the front it will pull air from the sides as well not giving you the volume of air you need to pass through the rad..Bruce
