Hey Fellas,

Well, finally got to fix all the little leaks on the 650dp and adjusted the accelerator pump. I adjusted it to squirt fuel as soon as the throttle is tipped in. When regular street driving it performs great, no more hesitation. But when I stopped and stabbed the throttle off idle, it sat for .75-1 seconds and shot out of the pocket pretty good. But still, there was a hesitation when the throttle was stabbed (pressed more than halfway down). Sort of like it overloaded with fuel, lagged, then shot out of the hole. Is this normal for a mech. sec. 650dp? If not, what changes should I make?

Thanks in advance.

Erik

Also, could this be my converter flashing to it's stall (1800-2000rpm)? Tomorrow I will try to footbrake it at 1800rpm and see what happens.

First, try a bigger accelerator pump shooter on the secondary side. It may also need richer jetting on the secondary side. Insure that the secondary accelerator pump arm is set correctly also. At full throttle, the pump arm needs to be ~0.015" from bottoming out. It's a little early in your fine tuning to work with pump cams yet but that is also an option.

Thanks Ted. What size do you guys recommend for squirters? Here are my carb specs.

28/28 pri/sec squirters
67/76 pri/sec jet
stock pump cams
stock accel pump diaphrams

Also, how would I determine if I need to jet up or down on a street driven car. I really don't have any areas around here where I can make a full WOT 90mph pass and cruise to a stop. Any other ways of determining a jet change?

Thanks in advance.
