As a few of you may know, me and KK's brother David are in a joint effort to put a motor in my '70 for KK to race. It is David's (actually the McGee family backup race motor) 351W. So, since it is a W, I have no parts that fit it. My main concern is hedders. We got a set from David that kind of fit (Hooker comps), but not to my satisfaction (I have no idea what the part number is, David told me once, but I forgot). What I don't like about them is, the collectors are almost against the floor. There is no room to put any kind of collector extension on them, and they are so close to the floor and the trans crossmember brace, there is no easy way to put any kind of exhuast on it.

Does anyone make a hedder that hangs lower? I really think this motor could stand some collector extensions, but I don't want to pay over $300 for a set of hedders for a motor that isn't mine.

I have used hedman part # 88660 in the past in a buddy's 66. They are 351W swap hedders for 65-73 mustangs. They are 1 5/8" primaries and 3" collectors. They fit well in the 66. I have not personally seen them in a 69-70, but hedman says they will fit.

I think he only paid about 120 bucks for them.

Rob,

I don't know if you weld or not. If you do a sazall and a wire welder is all you need to angle the collectors down. Then make the header extensions with the opposite angle to meet them. Or if you don't, just take it to a muffler shop and they can do it pretty cheap.
