Since I did the engine for my 65 it has now gone about 2700 miles and I was wondering, should I swap out the plugs or am I o.k.with these ones? I have done 6 oil changes in the time of the 2700 miles and will get a new air filter this weekend. When I do change my plugs what are your suggestions for the best ones to use and what would you gap them at? John,Your spark plugs should be fine for at least 20,000 more miles unless they are the wrong heat range. What's your engine combo and application? SteveW

STEVE, 289 taken out .060 over, 268H cam and all internals to match cam, autolite 4100 - 1.08 venturi, stock intake and exhaust manifolds ( for license and insurance purposes ), MSD pro-billet ready to run dist with MSD coil, C4 with transgo shift kit, 3.25:1 Trac-Loc. Had some major problems early with overheating but finally got it all solved and the car now runs normal temps. This car will be used for cruises and good weather street fun. I will put her on the track just to get some 1/4 times, but that will pretty much be it for track duty. I can not remember what my gap is at on the plugs, my timing at this time is 17 initial and 38 all in at 2900 rpm, the car seems to like this. Which plugs do you suggest I use when it becomes time to change them and what should I gap them at? I've heard Alex and numerous others recommend .035 gap and i've set mine to that with great results. My timing is also 36@3000rpm. Erik ------------------ 1966 Ford Mustang 2+2 Mine - Restomod in Progress 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe Dad's - Original Unrestored

Someone (I think Alex) said that if you go much over 0.045 on the plug gap that it sometimes doesnt fire to the ground strap but fires to something else and its not as powerful that way. I would say that 0.035 to 0.040 depending on the ignition would be OK
