I'm preparing to build a 72 maverick for racing and want to get it as light as possible it will have a chromoly chassis 351 c and all the fiberglass you can buy for one , doors, hood ,fenders, and trunk lid also plexi windows ,what might it weigh 2250? more ? less? Also I know where I can get an exp would that be much lighter ? enough to worry with ?

If you get Hairy Glass to make a fiberglass body for the Maverick you can get it down to less than 2000lbs. With all the aftermarket fiber glass, I'd guess 2200# without driver. A complete tube chassis car is very light. I have a friend who has a steel body/fiberglass front cap Vega with a BBC in it and it goes 1900# My car is 2600# and it is complete 2X3 box frame rail, mild steel, 10 point cage. JS

there's something else I was wondering if I should go 2x3 or all round tube , the car is gonna be a gear jammer so it has to be tough enough to survive repeated ,rather high wheelstands.

Since it's going to be a moly car, go with round tube for the whole thing. I would think it would weigh around 2200-2300 without driver. No more than 2300 lbs, unless you add a bunch of really heavy suspension and brake pieces. My 70 mustang is all steel except for the hood and it weighs 2560 without driver and without the rear ballast. 2610 with the ballast.

I would be REAL happy if I could get it down to 2000 !! think how fast it would go with a motor like kid vishus's !! It would boil the rail ,boy !!
