I have a Crane solid cam .570/.590 @.050 with 246/256 duration @.050. It has a 108 lobe centre. I have closed chamber heads with TRW flat tops. I want to know where my peak torque area is? I will get to a dyno someday! I'm guessing somewhere around 4800-5200rpm. Thanks, Brian

I found the funnel web test. The cam is very close to what I have. Thanks, Brian

The Brooklands 351C book of old Hot Rod magazine articles has a dyno test of 351C with that Crane cam. The engine was built by Chris Kaufman for a Pantera and was tested with a Holley Strip Dominator with a 4 barrel and a Weber independent runner EFI with 48 IDA's. When I was living in California, one of the local Pantera club guys had a 351C with Webers and the same Crane cam. The independent runner intake really tamed that cam. It was quite streetable. 48 IDA's are on the small side for a 351C but the Webers still pulled better HP than the Holley that was tested. With today's race carbs, I'd bet a single 4 barrel would do as well or better on peak HP but won't pull nearly as well in the low and mid-range. Here are the details from the Hot Rod article from my 351C database: Carbs Holley Model 4781 850 CFM Dominator (old style with manual choke) or Model 8162 with four point idle and no choke 48 IDA Weber 45 mm chokes, modified lower rpm and accel circuits Intake Holley Strip Dominator Hall Pantera Weber manifold Heads 63.4 cc stainless steel valves with 45 degree backcut 3/8" studs and guide plates bronze valve guides Motorsport valve covers Cam and Valvetrain Crane F-246 solid flat tappet 246/256 degrees duration @0.050" lift 0.570"/0.590" lift Crane triple valve springs - 125 lbs closed Crane steel retainers B&M/Milodon gear drive Block and Reciprocating Assembly hot tanked acid stripped magnafluxed FPP screw in plugs torque plates TRW forged flat tops 10.5:1 and wrist pins, ceramic pins Spirolox pressed pin FPP 427 capscrews TRW bearings TRW moly rings Durabond cam bearings Moroso oil restrictor kit Mcleod flywheel Mr gasket gaskets Moroso pan, p/u FPP pump and drive FPP main stud kit FPP pushrods 3/8x8.560 stock crank Oiling System FPP 8.560 0.040 oil restrictor pushrods Exhaust Fueling/Cyclone A-R's 1 3/4" Cooling Weiand aluminum pump Ignition Accel II with Allison XR-700 kit 12 degrees by 2800 rpm curve start 950 rpm 24 degrees at crank for 30-40 total Alison coil Allison wires Autolite spark plugs AF22 AF32 Misc fuel pump block of plate stock damper Comments head mods worth 5 cfm with Webers made 441HP and 421 ft-lbs tq 5500 rpm max dyno headers with street headers made 427HP and 408 ft-lbs with Holley 850 CFM and dyno headers made 426 HP Dan Jones
