about a 8.46 would work well randy. cause i figure you will be looking for a duck (me) and i want you to blow up before we get to the finish line!!! LOL
my opinion is (and you know what they are worth) is with the glide a 4.56 or better would be where i would start. my combo is similar with a c/4 and a 4.10. i think i could use a little more myself.
good luck buddy

You say "mostly 1/8 mile". Keeping the rpms down to 6200 will be tough in the 1/4. You would have to go to a 3.70 or 3.91 with the glide.

If you said 1/8 only, I would give that little motor some gear. About a 5.00 would put it right at 6200 through the lights. A 4.88 would work also and drop the rpms to 6000 or so. But, you can't run the 1/4 with either of them.

In my old door car I used to turn 6500 in the 1/8 with a tire about the same diameter, but I had 5.43's and a looser converter (about 5400)

Why don't you change your glide planetaries to a 1.81 low gear set. Buy some that have a stud girdle welded on them for extra strength. About $100.00
Then try a 4.88 or 5.14 rear gear.
