I was just wondering what any of the pros here think about Lunati cams...
Are they still old, outdated grinds like I've heard was mentioned about Isky mega cams?
The only reason I went with Lunati was that a buddy of mine was running a bracket master II in his small block Chevy and it seemed to have the characteristics I wanted in my engine.
But I'm wondering if I should go 1 step up on the grind...from 218 @ 0.50 to 230 @ 0.50, and .488 lift to .512....?
My compression ratio is probably alot less than I think it is.
Aren't 302's more like 8.0 to 8.5:1 compression rather than a healthier 9.0 to 9.5:1 with 68cc heads?

Or should I dump the Lunati cam and go with the most popular Comp Cam?

Right now, besides the mildly lopey idle, this cam is a smooth runner.

Also, last night I learned a porting lesson on an old, but good factory head trying to work the short turn radius of an intake port...found the water jacket!!

Atleast now I know less is more...

i run the lunati 51014 and have had no problems with it. however even though it is a bigger cam than the e-303 ford cam, it performs almost identically the same. the problem i have with lunati is their tech dept sux big time. i have sent them 3 e-mails in the last two weeks. all i have got back so far is an automated reply telling me that they got them and someone would contact me shortly. i guess they define "shortly" a little differently than i do!!! sorry, just had to vent.

Sadly, I wouldn't expect much in the way of "customer support" from anything owned by Holley. It's like asking a waiter on the Titanic for a fresh drink....

I run a Lunati cam, and it works real good. But, it was purchased before the Holley buyout. I haven't bought anything new from Lunati since then and have heard a lot of horror stories about customer support and some issues with their quality control. Basically, Holley wrecked a pretty good company when they got greedy and bought them.
