my lil 302 just does not seem to have the go it should- so im gonna fiddle with things untill im satisfied with it. but where should the timing be at? specs on motor: 302, bored .030, RV cam, 351W heads, mildly ported, edelbrock performer intake and 4bbl carb.. it seems to have a studder from stop to go and also a flat spot between all gears. thanksJace

Is it a holley carb and is your harmonic balancer cracked where the two pieces join if so your timing marks may not be dead on.. Bruce

the elastic that holds the inside ring to the out side can dry out and crack this will let the out side rign slip out of alignment I am not a carter fan so I will not answer you about the carb..Bruce
