I bought some heads from a friend (4v 351cs) who acquired them some time back at the holman moody auction ,these are heavily modified nascar heads but they may have originated somewhere besides h&m ,maybe bud moore ,I dont know .Anyway the heads are stamped AUTO SREC on the front and then followed by a # one head is numbered 4100, another 5.131 yet another 7200 etc . Does ANYONE have a clue what those numbers might mean or where the heads originated ? I appreciate any info you can give Thanks.

They might be Australian.I know they uset to like to use those in Pro Stock (with exhaust ports fab'd from billet aluminum). The numbers are totally greek to me,but I'll try to find out from my buddy's father who was a hardcore Ford racer in the 60's/70's.He might have some type of documentation stashed away.

You were right man !! Steve came thru for me !! he said the heads came from automotive specialties which is keith dortons outfit , said they did alot of nascar heads back in the day and that these heads were the real deal . they are pinned in 9 places per head to increase head gasket reliability and valve seal ,just like in the cleveland book . now if I could find out what those numbers mean I could possibly find out who ran em and what car they came off of !

Automotive specialties is still in business with a website.
Search on Google and call Dorton up.I think it is www.automotivespecialists.com
They may have records going back that far.
BTW can you post some pics of those heads?

I can take pics ,I have a digicam ,but I have never been able to post pics . If anyone here wants to post for me I'll email pics to you .I've taken lots of measurements of the heads ,like the short turn radius and such , I can share this info if anyone is interested.
