Made it out to Beech Bend last night for the first time this year. Could not improve on last year, consistent 12.5 @ 111 and lousey 2.05 60 ft, I know get some slicks. Anyway on my last run, just before going to 4th gear, my tach (Autometer) goes crazy. The needle bounced between 3-9 grand. I shift to 4th and the motor and tranny started shaking bad, felt like it was up against the rev limiter. I backed off and coasted, trying to figure out what broke, on the return road, everything is normal, nothing broken. Today, I went through all of the wiring on the Mallory 6AL and redid all of the grounds. Everything works. Can't figure this one out. Hope its a one shot deal.Mike

Mike, is your box an MSD? Does it have the built in REV limiter? Sometimes a MSD box will do that if it has low voltage at high RPM. You probably have an altenator though so i doubt that's it. I dunno buddy but good luck! JS

After going through all of the connections, which are all soldered, I think I have isolated the problem. I have two plug in connections, on one of the pins the female was much larger than the male, thats the way it usually happens, I closed the female up for a tighter connection. Everything seemed to work.Jerry, I have one of the newer Mallory 6AL Digital boxes connected to an all mechanical Unilite. It has a adjustable rev limiter, a rotary switch, no pills, to which I jacked up another 500 RPM. Thanks, Mike [This message has been edited by kcode (edited 04-14-2003).]

I've heard of that before, although never actually experienced it Mike. WEG SteveW
