I want to build a long rod 351W, but I need to learn more about this. Does anyone know of any online info of this combination? Anyone have one? Are there common components to make it reasonably priced? Or are they not worth the effort? Thanks, Dave------------------ '70 ragtop Stang 351W - 13.70 @104.

i wouldnt bother with it. the 351w has a nice rod ratio of 1.70. a longer rod will give you increased dwell time at BDC and TDC. the increased dwell at TDC allows more time for the combustion process.

Yeah Dave, why? The long rod theory is pretty much a dead issue.------------------ Alex Denysenko Co-Administrator and Moderator NHRA/IHRA/SRA member and licensed Superstock driver MCA member# 53321 NHRA and IHRA SS/LA National Record Holder '00,'01,'02,&'03 Fleet of FoMoCo products including 88 ASC McLaren Mustang #28 Professional Manwhore The Barry of BarrysGrrl Quote #1: "I never met a magazine mechanic I liked." Thanks, guys. I was under the impression a long rod 351 would give me more torque for my heavy ragtop. I'll stick with the normal stuff and try a Comp 270S. Dave
