I am thinking about buying a used Lakewood bellhousing. The SFI sticker on it that says SPEC 6.1
Will I be able to race it?
Is it out of date? Can i paint the bellhousing and leave the sticker?

Thanks,
Jason

Skeeter, does the sticker not have a date punched out of the silver material? If not, then yes, it is an older scattershield. Both of my Lakewood scattershields (428 FE for the Fairmont race car, & SB Ford for the 85 Mustang) have tha same style of date "punch out" like those used for saftey harnesses, or many car batteries. I can`t really recall any tech inspector asking the expiry date, but you never know. The whole idea of a time limit on scattershields has always irked me. I mean, if you don`t have a clutch blow up, then whats to wear out? And if you did have a clutch let go, the can would likely be so distorted it would be garbage anyhow.

Roy,
the only other # on the sticker is in the right bottom corner. "01075" What is that?

Thanks for the help!
